This Week’s Share

IMAG1111

This week’s share included some absolutely beautiful and aromatic Thai Basil. I think I’ll use it to make hummus.

Rounding out the rest of the share (and including tips for storing and enhancing freshness), we have:

Cucumbers: wrap with paper towels and store in a plastic bag in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Zucchini: wrap with paper towels and store in plastic bag for up to 3 days in the fridge.

Cauliflower: keep in plastic bag in fridge for up to 5 days.

Lettuce: store unwashed in a plastic bag in the fridge for up to 4 days. Remember, you can revive wilted leaves by soaking them in cold water for 10 minutes. It really works!

Beets: separate the beet from the greens and store both in the fridge in plastic bags for up to 5 days.

Onions: always store onions in a cool, dark, ventilated space. Do not store them in plastic bags to avoid collecting moisture that will spoil them.
